JCC Workshop
Designers should not be the ones to supervise their own construction projects.
This was the advice given David Heslett Managing Director Of European Construction Ventures Limited at a workshop hosted by the Joint Consultative Council, this morning.
He was speaking at the opening session of a two-day session dedicated to the practical use of Conditions and Contract for the Construction Industry.
Heslett told his audience at the Cascadia Hotel in St Ann’s one of the strategies implemented in certain parts of Europe was that the person who designed a project should not be allowed to supervise it.
Bur he pointed to some of the implications associated with such a position.
Mr. Heslett also pointed out contractors also need to careful not leave out the owners in the construction process as they are the ones that would have to take full responsibility when things go wrong.
