Ammunition Charge

A 23 year old welder of Sangre Grande has been placed on 150 thousand dollars bail for possession of a hand gun and six rounds of ammunition. Lindon Derreck appeared before a San Grande court this morning. Police, acting on information received raided Derreck’s home at Fishing Pond, Sangre Grande last evening and found the .35 Magnum and ammunition. He will reappear in court next month. The charge was laid by PC Dexter Parson of the Sangre Grande CID.

Businessman beaten and robbed

Salesman Azard Mohammed of California was robbed by two men while doing business in Couva. Reports are around 4:55pm yesterday; 40 year old Mohammed was at Balmattie Street, Couva and was coming out of his vehicle when he was approached by 2 men. One man placed a knife to his neck while the other robbed him of 2,000 dollars and a cell phone. The men then severely beat Mohammed before making their escape.

Fire leaves four homeless in St Madeline

Four persons are homeless after fire destroyed their dwelling place at Montgomery, St Madeline. 43 year old Beverly Charles told fire officers she was outside around 12:30pm yesterday when she smelt smoke. On investigating she found her home on fire. The structure which is valued at 20, 000 dollars was completed destroyed. Cause of the blaze is not yet known.

2 men shot and killed by police

Police shot and killed 2 people in Diego Martin this morning. News-power understands just after 6’oclock police went to Coveigne Road in Diego Martin to execute a warrant at a home The officers were greeted by bullets… and returned fire Cousins Kerron Charles alias “Wounded” and Kendell Charles alias “Bear” were wounded in the crossfire. Both men died on their way to Port of Spain General Hospital. Investigations are continuing

Road Fatality

A Sangre Grande man is this country’s latest road fatality. Details are limited but Newspower understands Albert Cadowan was driving his vehicle along the BWIA Boulevard in Piarco at approximately 7 o’ clock last night Upon reaching the intersection at the Churchill Roosevelt Highway Cadowan collided with another vehicle. He died on the spot.
