One of the lead attorneys responsible for launching a motion of no confidence against Attorney General John Jeremie feels the AG should resign.
Senior Counsel Desmond Allum, however, isn’t holding hope the AG will do what he says is the right thing.
Mr Allum made the comment following yesterday’s marathon sitting of the law Association at the Hall of Justice in Port of Spain.
A no confidence motion in the AG was passed by an overwhelming majority of the more than 200 lawyers present.
But outspoken Attorney, Senior Counsel Israel Khan, is maintaining his support for the Mr. Jeremie.
He is accusing the law Association of exercising political ambitions with the passage of the no confidence motion.
And Attorney, Independent Senator Dana Seetahal, commenting on the issue, is describing the motion of no confidence as a harsh move by the Law Association.
The Law Association head, however, hit back at these comments in a televised interview this morning saying the issue never concerned politics.
Martin Daly maintains the association’s motive behind the motion was to maintain the independence of the Director of Public Prosecutions’ office.
