A former Works and Transport Minister has described Saturday’s accident at the Bailey Bridge as an industrial accident
Despite this …Carson Charles is calling on government to seriously review its skills base at the Works Ministry…and consider a revamping exercise …with the hope of improving the quality of the workmen
Speaking on national television he reminded the Works Minister …he has the responsibility for all bridges in Trinidad and Tobago…and automatically becomes liable for such incidents
Charles says the Works Ministry has for a long time been unable to monitor and secure the nation’s roads and transport services
And he is calling on Works Minister Colm Imbert to do something to immediately rectify the situation
But do we have anything to worry about as it pertains to the structural integrity of other bridges around the country???
Dr Charles says he does not believe so…but it should not be that action is taken after something happens…
