Several bridges leading to agricultural lands in the Mayaro area have been damaged by heavy rains

Local farmers are urging the authorities to address the issue as quickly as possible.

Chairman of the Rio Claro/Mayaro Regional Corporation, Ramlochan Panchoo said many farmers in Plum Mitan and Kernahan suffered damage to their crops.

He said in Navet many farmers are finding the going tough to get to their lands due to the damage caused to bridges.

Mr Panchoo said assessments are being done by officials from the Corporation to provide some relief to the affected farmers.
