Housing Minister, Emily Gaynor Dicke- Forde is challenging the private sector to adopt a wiser strategy to stimulate economic activity.
The Minister was speaking at the launch of the Inter- American Investment Corporation’s diagnostic program for small and micro enterprise in this country: FINPYME.
The event took place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Port of Spain this morning.
Mrs. Dicke Forde describes small and micro enterprise development as critical to guard against a further economic slowdown.
FINPYME is a small business development tool which offers free consultancy services to small enterprises in Jamaica, Barbados, Belize, the Bahamas and now in Trinidad and Tobago.
It is funded by International Investment Corporation through the Inter American Development Fund.
According to Deputy General Manager of the ICC, Steven Reed the programme is unique as it offers a free assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of small business.
