Labour Minister Renee Dumas says he not aware of violation of labour laws or regulations against Chinese immigrant workers at various government projects.

Minister Dumas was responding to a question raised by Opposition Senator Wade Mark in the Senate yesterday.

Last week, the Health Ministry confirmed that 12 Chinese workers at Keate Street, Port of Spain contracted Dengue Fever.

Senator Mark wanted answers concerning reports about the poor working conditions under which the Chinese workers function.

In response, Minister Dumas said his Ministry is not aware of ill treatment against the foreigner workers.

However, he noted that his Ministry has proper systems in place to ensure that labour standards are followed by both local and foreign companies.
