A teenager is now in serious condition at hospital after he was stabbed in the chest.

Reports indicate around 10:45 this morning Shane Sooknanan a student of Cunupia high school got into an altercation with a 16 year-old relative.

The relative allegedly pulled out a knife from his bag and stabbed Shane once to the chest.

Shane was rushed to Mt. Hope Medical Sciences Complex where he underwent emergency surgery.

Cunupia police are continuing investigations into the matter.
