Caroni police are searching for an unemployed man who reportedly assaulted his 10-year-old stepdaughter.

Police said the Standard 3 student was taken to the police station by her mother on Wednesday evening.

Reports state the mother told police the man… who is in his late 20s… repeatedly raped the child for more than a year.

The report came after a lecture by the police at the school on criminal acts and activity that can be perpetrated on children.

After the lecture, the child reportedly told a school friend of the ordeal she was undergoing at home and the friend then told a school official.

Investigators said the police were immediately contacted.
