This country’s international business competitiveness is falling and Labour Minister Rennie Dumas assures the government is addressing the problem with a level of urgency.
In 2007 Trinidad and Tobago ranked 84th on the global competitive Index which is down from 67th in 2006.
Minister Dumas confirms that cabinet has given the approval for the establishment of National Productivity Council aimed at tackling matters affecting the country’s competitive performance.
He said if the matter is given a luke warm response it could interference with the nation’s future economic plans.
The Labour Minister said the Council will include representatives from the Trade Union movement and other sections of society.
