There is an assurance from the Foreign Affairs Minister this country would be able to fix concerns raised by the British government about illegal immigration and drug trafficking involving Trinidad and Tobago nationals.
This country is among 10 nations which have been warned they need to address the risk posed to the United Kingdom, if they are to escape the introduction of visa requirements for their nationals.
Some of the other countries include Venezuela, Brazil, Malaysia, South Africa and Botswana.
Earlier this month, an advisory issued by the British Foreign Commonwealth Office said if the situation is not brought under control, the countries would be required to apply for visas by the end of the year to enter the United Kingdom.
Speaking at the weekly post cabinet news briefing at White Hall this afternoon, Foreign Affairs Minister Paula Gopee Scoon said she recently held talks British officials on the issues.
Minister Gopee Scoon said she is upbeat that both areas of concerns would be successfully addressed.
