Uganda’s Foreign Affairs Minister Sam Kutesa believes that Trinidad and Tobago could stand to benefit from that country’s AIDS/HIV prevention and awareness strategies.
Kutesa, who held a joint press conference with his T&T counterpart Arnold Piggott at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this morning, noted that Uganda was able to reduce infection rate from 32 to less the 5 percent in 10 years.
He said that due to the manner in which the disease is contracted, it is quite easy to confine the spread of AIDS.
Minister Piggott said the impending establishment of the T&T High Commission in Uganda will deepen existing ties between both countries.
Mr. Piggott pointed out that within a 6 week period, Trinidad and Tobago had engaged in bilateral talks with 3 countries.
