The final bit of clean up operations should be completed today following heavy rains in the Diego Martin area over the weekend.

According to Chairman of the Diego Martin Regional Corporation Lyndon George one of the community that experienced heavy flooding and they weren’t aware of it until yesterday was Blue Basin.

Mr. George said representatives from the Social Development Ministry are assessing the welfare needs of the affected individuals as many homes have been impacted by flood waters.

Meanwhile the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management is advising persons to be alert as we are still in the hurricane season and events like these are likely to be repeated.

ODPM continues to monitor the situation and will issue updates when necessary.
