Government has decided to exclude persons under 25 and over 65 years of age from accessing the Unemployment Relief Programme.

This measure is designed to eradicate corruption within the URP...

However Head of the Chaguanas Crime Watch, Ian Alleyne believes it’s impractical.

Speaking in an interview with news power this morning… Alleyne says the criminal elements within the URP come from a wide age group.

And he notes eliminating certain ages would not be a viable solution.

According to Alleyne… even though some persons genuinely depend on the programme…

it has degenerated into a criminal organization which is directly funded by government.

And he believes those who are under 25 who are excluded from the URP must be given alternative training and employment.
