The Union of Members Clubs and Lottery Workers are now demanding a meeting with Prime Minister Patrick Manning, as they believe that regulating the Industry is the answer to the problem.

Prime Minister Manning said Government plans to retrain the Seven Thousand plus workers in other areas, but the Union does not see it possible, because salaries could be much less.

The UMCLW also believe that Government’s contention is with the foreign-owned Casino’s, who do not want their employees unionized.

Union Chairman Kenroy Phillip says members are baffled with the Prime Ministers decision to shut down the Industry, which has never been a strain on the National Treasury, unlike Horseracing, which currently requires some funding

The Union was due to meet with Trade and Industry Minister Ken Valley earlier this morning in an effort to get assistance with their plight, but the meeting has since been rescheduled to next Wednesday.
