Uganda President Yoweri Museveni arrives in Trinidad and Tobago today for a two-day state visit.
He and his wife are the government’s main guests at this years Emancipation day celebrations.
Among those who will greet him at the airport are cabinet members, the diplomatic corps and other prominent citizens.
He arrives at 10am and will be given a ceremonial welcome before he goes on a state drive to the capital city.
The route is along the Eastern Main Road which up to last night work men were seen stringing up buntings on utility poles in honour of the Ugandan visitors.
A gala cultural show will also be put on at the airport this morning.
Yesterday, Foreign Minister Arnold Piggott revealed that the President’s itinerary is very tight.
This is because his hectic personal schedule did not facilitate his original plan of a 4-day trip.
Piggott noted that President Museveni is flowing in the footsteps of his counterparts.
He pointed out that visits to Trinidad and Tobago by leaders within the African Continent are not unique.
