Election tension has been brewing in the Arouca Area.
At least among the supporters of the People National Movement.
In the first instance…Those living in the newly formed D’Abadie/O’Meara Constituency are reportedly kicking up against the ruling government’s choice of a candidate for the area.
According to reports, the group is unhappy with Karen Tesheira, who was approved by the Prime Minister 2 days ago.
Among the many complaints is that Ms Teshiera, a lawyer and lecturer at the Hugh Wooding Law School, is not known to the people as she lives in the Cascade area
Other complaints include the fact that Ms Tesheira has no record of community service or involvement in the area at a grass roots level
Adding fuel to the fire, was the news that the executive was locked out of the Arouca South Constituency office where all meetings were formerly held
We understand that the Minister of Planning, Camille Robinson Regis, the sitting MP for the area, expressed her dissatisfaction over the way she was treated
Mrs. Robinson Regis was screened for the Arouca/Maloney seat but last week announced that she will decline the position due to a pending heart surgery
