The blackout during last evening’s gala handing over ceremony of the Prime Minister’s residence and diplomatic centre is being blamed on the Boissiere feeder which faulted and tripped
This is the word of officials of the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission
In a statement, Stephen Martel, the commission’s Corporate Communications Manager, explains that due to heavy rains occurring over the past days, the footing of one of the poles located at the top of Cotton Hill, was compromised causing the pole to lean and consequently the feeder came into contact with another pole
He further explains that the Prime Minister’s residence was not the only location to be affected
He says Cotton Hill, Anderson Terrace, Vallot Street and Boissiere Village were also affected
The statement says electricity was fully restored by 7.30pm last night
