Good Independence Day news for members of the Defender Force who would get an increase in salaries and allowances.
National Security Minister Martin Joseph explains wage negotiations with Chief Personnel Officer have been completed and the officers would get back pay for the period January 1st 2005 to December 31st 2007.
Joseph admitted the salaries of Defence Force officers were lower than their counterparts in the police service and this needed to be corrected.
He said the new arrangements would cost tax payers one hundred and fourteen point three million dollars.
