Acting Police Commissioner, James Philbert is being called on to investigate allegations of a scam taking place at the Nation’s Hospitals.
The call came today in a letter sent to the Acting Commissioner by Caroni East MP, Dr. Tim Gopeesingh.
Dr. Gopeesingh in his letter referred to media reports which stated patients requiring orthopedic surgical pins, screws or plates are being asked to pay for a service that should be free of charge.
Media reports state patients requiring orthopedic surgery are being asked to prices ranging from 9 thousand dollars to 17 thousand dollars if they want the surgery to be performed as soon as possible.
They are then given a cell number to contact a company for further information.
