Prime Minister Patrick Manning has finally broken his silence on the controversial Calder Hart/UDECOTT issue.

Speaking at a special News Conference at the Prime Ministers St Clair offices this morning Mr. Manning sort to answer questions posed to him by Members of the media on the matter.

Mr. Manning said he did speak with Mr Hart last Friday following advice he received from the AG John Jeremie.

He said the decision to resign was Mr Harts and not his.

He however maintains that in Trinidad a person is innocent until proven guilty.

And ahead of a motion by the UNC calling for the resignation of the UDECOTT board Mr. Manning said he sees no reason for the board to resign.

He has however announced that HDC’s CEO Jearlean John will be appointed as the new UDECOTT chairman.
