Opposition Leader Basdeo Panday says liberating the Shouter Baptist community …was among the greatest achievements of his term as Prime Minister… and of the UNC government.
In his message to the Spiritual Shouter Baptist Community on what he described as a very special day…Mr. Panday said it was in recognition of the rights of Shouter Baptists… to an equal and dignified place in the national landscape …that the UNC government… in 1995… designated March 30… a national holiday.
The Opposition Leader said the struggle of the Shouter Baptists… for the repeal of the Shouter Prohibition Ordinance …spanned centuries… and is a reminder of the ability of people… to force institutions and governments to effect changes.
